Who We Are

At CYC we are a diverse group of people from different backgrounds, cultures and Christian denominations, united in our desire to fulfil the Mission and Vision of CYC.

Our Vision

To be leaders in Christian centered outdoor education and recreation, presenting young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and providing opportunities for them to grow to their full, God-given potential.

Our Mission

To provide excellence in camp “facilities programs and activities” that support a range of adventure-based learning experiences where young people can develop their Hauora, led and nurtured by a Christ-centered team.

Our How

Through providing excellent facilities and activities to support a range of experiential, adventure-based learning opportunities.

Our core values underpin how we live and serve and come from the teachings of Jesus found in Matthew 22:37-39 and John 13:34-35, focusing on putting God first and serving others ahead of our own interests.

Operational Framework

CYC is a private charity, run with the oversight of the CYC Board and the members of the CYC Incorporated Society. CYC’s constitution, vision and mission are based on biblical Christian values and the advancement of the Christian Faith. This forms the foundation of CYC’s special character.

History

Christian Youth Camps INC. (CYC) was established in 1956 and incorporated in 1957 as an interdenominational Christian Camp, improving the lives of the youth of New Zealand through presenting them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

About us

CYC offers accommodation facilities for school groups, church groups, and other organizations. Additionally, the camp runs various programs, including leadership development and discipleship training, to help young people grow in their faith and character.

Statement of Faith

OF THE WORD OF GOD AND REVELATION
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments (known as the Bible) are fully inspired and wholly trustworthy and infallible Word and Revelation of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and practise.

OF GOD
We believe that God in the Trinity of His Sacred Person, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, eternally existent, is the only living and true God.

OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe in and confess the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Mediator between God and man, Who being the Eternal Son of God became truly man for our Salvation being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary yet without sin, so that He is both man and God, two distinct natures the Divine and the human being inseparably joined together in one person forever. We believe that when the Son of God became man, He did not thereby empty Himself of His Deity or of any of the attributes thereof but possessed full and adequate knowledge of all things. All the words that He uttered throughout His earthly ministry were words of God.
We believe that for our Redemption, He fulfilled all righteousness, offered Himself through the Eternal Spirit a sacrifice in our stead unto God and on the Cross of Calvary made propitiation for the sins of the whole world. We believe in the physical resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that in His glorified body He ascended into Heaven and is now at the right hand of God as the Mediator, Priest and Advocate of His people.
We believe in the Kingship of the Lord Jesus Christ and that at a moment unknown to us He will return as He said in power and great glory thus fulfilling the blessed hope of His Church.

OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Personality and Deity of the Holy Spirit, Who came down upon earth on the Day of Pentecost to indwell believers and to be the Administrator in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and “to reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and judgment”.

OF MAN AND OF HIS SIN
We believe that Man was created in the image of God, in a state of sinlessness but that when tempted by Satan he sinned against God and came under the power of sin, the penalty of which is death in all its forms, from which he can be delivered only by the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
We believe that the Word of God teaches that all men must be born again or be lost forever.

OF THE DEVIL
We believe there is a personal devil, a being of great cunning and power who is the prince of the powers of the air – the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.

OF SALVATION
We believe that the only mediator between God and man is the man Christ Jesus; that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; that He was buried; that He rose again from the dead according to the Scriptures; that without the shedding of the blood of Christ Jesus there is no remission of sins; that we are saved only by our individual appropriation by faith of the atoning sacrifice thus offered by Christ as our personal Saviour and Substitute; that upon the exercise of such faith in Christ we are immediately born again and made new creatures in Christ Jesus, we become immediately partakers of the Divine Nature, recipients of the mercy and forgiveness of God and the free gift of eternal live and of the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit Who is the third Person of the Trinity and Who empowers us to live a victorious Christian life.

OF THE CHURCH
We believe that the Church is the company of all who have been born again and have been formed by His Spirit into one living body of which He is the Head, and that the church is commissioned to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

OF RESURRECTION AND THE FELICITY OF THE SAINTS
We believe in the resurrection both of the just and the unjust; that souls of believers at their death enter into felicity in the Presence of their Lord; and we confidently look for our resurrection at our Lord’s return in glory, when the bodies of those who sleep in Christ as well as His people who are then alive shall be fashioned in the likeness of the glorious body of their Lord, with whom they shall live and serve and reign for ever and ever.
