Steven >> DirectorSteven is our awesome director, even though he takes life a little too seriously sometimes, he loves camping. He brings a wealth of practical knowledge from his farming background and loves having a good chat with people.
Meet the Team!
Nick >> Admin ManagerNick has joined us at CYC after finishing study at East West College of Intercultural Studies. Before that Nick worked as a qualified Electrician. Nick left the real work of maintenance to join the office team!
Dan >> Operations ManagerDan is 2IC, and doesn't take life quite as seriously as Steven. Dan is our go to guy for anything around site. He brings a vast set of skills to the team from building to odd sock wearing. You'll often find him fixing things around camp, helping Host, or dreaming up new ideas.
Jane >> Accounts Coordinator & Bookings SupportJane is Steven's wonderful wife. She is a key part of the behind the scenes office work. In her spare time she also heads up the gardeing at CYC and homeschools the youngest two of her nine children.
Jess >> Leaders CoordinatorNew to the crew, Jess brings a whole lotta experience from youth work to ministry trips. Jess will be looking after leaders, interns and international volunteers.
Jazmin >> Event Program CoordinatorJazmin has a good chunk of experience in camping and is always looking at ways to improve our holiday programs. Self-proclaimed personality hire. The go-to camp photographer.
Mandeep >> Bookings CoordinatorMandeep keeps the bookings all in order. Coming in to the office or going on a site tour? Mandeep will welcome you at the front door.
Rosie >> Bookings SupportRosie joins us at the front desk supporting all things bookings. If you're planning a school camp, she'll be the new go-to once she sets up the new software!
Chris >> Head HostChris has rejoined the CYC crew after a few years managing MiCamp. He has tons of experince in camping plus some time spent as an aborist. These trees are gonna love a professional sprucing!
Nathaniel >> Kitchen CoordinatorNat runs our kitchen and cooks the food we serve to our guests. His doughnuts are delicious! When he's not cooking, Nat is also an essential member of our maintenance team.
Hannah >> ChefHannah is our other second chef. Both Grace and Hannah are so good at what they do we couldn't possibly choose between them. Hannah is a wiz with food and a multitasking pro, evidenced by her great meals and incredible kitchen prowess.
Joshua>> Host/InstructorJoshua has a big love for camps. He's been attended camps as a teenager here and become a leader. Now wanting a change of pace from Auckland, you'll find him hosting or instructing activities.
Kiya >> Host/InstructorKiya has a huge passion for CYC, and loves pointing people in the right direction. Kiya has been a part of the CYC whanau for years, volunteering during the holidays as one of our incredible leaders. Now he's taking on a new challenge as host and activity instructor.
Ben >> GroundsYou'll find Ben looking after the grounds. Building fences or driving around the tractor. You might see him in the kitchen serving meals too. A jack of all trades!
Nick >> Maintenance/HostNick is so busy its hard to tell if he is coming or going. The majority of Nick's time is spent working on grounds and maintenance during the week. In the weekends he is your "go to guy" as he does the majority of the weekend hosting.
Dreyer >> Chef ApprenticeWe're stoked to have Dreyer in the kitchen learning all things about how to make us great food!
Sacha >> InstructorSacha joins us as an instructor! She’s helped out at plenty of CYC camps and volunteered at others around the area too, including as part of the band! You might find Sacha running the flying fox, painting cabins, or keeping the laundry moving. She’s a bit of an all-rounder!
Jake >> InstructorJake has moved from leading at camps to working with us full time. You may see him on the weekends working on a whole of things! He's ready to do it!
Volunteers
Pauline >> International VolunteerPauline is joining the CYC team from Germany for a year and will be helping wherever she’s needed, from serving meals and running activities to painting and keeping things around camp running smoothly. She enjoys going for walks and being out in nature, and she’s especially looking forward to exploring the South Island during her time in New Zealand.
Philemon >> International VolunteerPhilemon is spending the year with us from Germany, getting stuck into all kinds of camp life, from helping with activities and meals to painting and general maintenance. He’s excited to experience the incredible nature New Zealand has to offer and explore more of the country while he’s here.
Luca >> International VolunteerLuca is joining us from Germany for a year, helping out with everything from activities and serving meals to whatever jobs need doing around camp. He enjoys photography and videography and is looking forward to getting involved in the CYC community. While he’s here, he’s keen to go bungy jumping and hopefully see a kiwi bird!
Pathways Intern
Our interns are placement through Pathways College. This internship is unique as it is balanced between 50% ministry and 50% study. Their ministry is 15 hours paid work and 15 hours volunteered. Their study is towards a diploma in Christian Ministries and is made up of six week long block courses throughout the year and online assignments.
